About Me

Hi! I’m Kelsey Scott, a Licensed Associate Counselor in Arizona. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Grand Canyon University.

My clinical experience includes an internship at a Scottsdale & Tempe-based behavioral health and recovery center, where I supported clients working through substance use, co-occurring mental health concerns, and trauma. I gained experience with individual and group interventions, holistic wellness practices, and also began facilitating couples therapy sessions. This work showed me the powerful role relationships play in recovery and overall emotional health.

I have extensive training in the Gottman Method for couples therapy and I am passionate about helping partners strengthen their connection, navigate challenges, and feel supported in their healing journey together.

How Can I Help You
Starting therapy often comes with a mix of emotions—hope, nervousness, excitement, or even doubt. That’s completely natural, because opening up to someone new takes courage. My role is to walk alongside you as you work toward your goals and build confidence in your own autonomy. I draw from approaches such as the Gottman Method, EFT, inner child healing, reparenting, psychodynamic therapy, CBT, motivational interviewing, ACT, and attachment work. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, exploring self-worth, or learning to use your voice, I offer support with care and curiosity. At the core of my practice is a belief in creating a nonjudgmental space where you can experience your emotions fully. Therapy is not about fixing you—you were never broken. Therapy is not about giving advice—it’s about helping you find your own voice. You are worthy of care, attention, and the investment you make in yourself.

What Is It Like to Work With Me?

I’m not a “blank slate” therapist. With me, you’ll get genuine reactions, facial expressions, pop culture references, and the full range of my humanity. I see myself as a person first and a therapist second, which shapes my laid-back, collaborative, and conversational style.

I bring warmth, compassion, intuition, and optimism into my work. While listening deeply is essential, I also take an active role in gently challenging clients, bringing awareness to cycles that may be holding them back, and supporting growth and transformation. If you’re looking for a therapist who won’t shy away from hard conversations but can also laugh with you—and sometimes even share tears—I might be a good fit.

I believe therapy works best when it feels human. By showing up fully as myself, I invite my clients to do the same. I strive to be a steady presence, a compassionate witness, and a mirror that reflects back their inherent worth.

My path to becoming a therapist began in my undergraduate communication studies, where I learned how relationships and culture shape the way we connect with others. A cultural communication class, in particular, emphasized the importance of cultural competency, which remains central to my values. Later, working as a caseworker for the Department of Child Safety, I recognized that true healing requires more than addressing a child’s immediate needs — it means engaging the entire family system. These experiences shaped my philosophy that meaningful change happens through a collaborative, culturally informed approach that supports both individuals and families in their growth and healing.

More About Me… I am relatively new to motherhood and have a one-year-old son who lights up my life. The sound of his laugh feels like sunshine to my soul, and becoming a parent has deepened my empathy and understanding of the challenges that families and couples face.

Fun fact: Halloween is my favorite holiday — I start decorating in August (aka “Augtober”) because anything spooky brings me joy.
