Virtual Therapy in Peoria, AZ
Peoria stretches from the Loop 101 to Lake Pleasant, and the newer neighborhoods in Vistancia and north Peoria are a long way from most of the valley's counseling offices. Virtual therapy closes that distance. You meet an Arizona-licensed therapist by secure video from home, on your schedule, without a 35-minute drive each way.
Wiser Counseling provides online individual, couples and family therapy to Peoria residents, with appointments 8am to 7pm Monday through Saturday, Sunday by request, and in-person sessions available in Tempe or Scottsdale whenever you want them.

How Online Therapy Works for Peoria Residents
Each session is 50 minutes over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video link. You need a private room and a stable connection, nothing more; there is no software to install and sessions are never recorded. The therapist you see online is the same Arizona-licensed clinician you would see in person.
From central Peoria our Tempe and Scottsdale offices are each about 37 minutes away without traffic, and considerably more at rush hour. Most of our Peoria clients therefore stay fully online; some come in for a first session and then move to video, and the choice is yours session by session.

Virtual Therapy Services
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy for Peoria adults and teens working through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, self-worth or a season of change. Our clinicians use CBT, DBT and EMDR as appropriate; Mallory Rigby, LPC and Daniel James, LPC work with adults, and several therapists, including Selina Rivera, LAC, see adolescents 12 and up.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy online, together on one screen or from two places when travel or shifts split you up. Joshua DuBoise, LPC works with married and pre-marital couples; Lin Wright, LCSW focuses on high-conflict relationships. Couples sessions are typically self-pay and the rate is quoted before you start.
Family Therapy
Family therapy for Peoria households: parents and teens who have stopped talking, families settling into a new neighborhood, grandparents raising grandchildren, co-parents who need a neutral space. Ryan Roels, LMSW works with families with children and teens; Ally Marcus, LCSW sees children from age 6.

What Peoria Clients Work On With Us
Depression
Depression can make a quiet suburban street feel very far from everything. A standing weekly video session gives you a fixed point: a clinician who tracks your sleep, energy and self-talk with you and helps you rebuild routine one small piece at a time.
Anxiety
Anxiety for many Peoria clients comes dressed as responsibility: the mortgage, aging parents in Sun City, children’s futures. We combine CBT and mindfulness skills you can use in the moment with slower work on the beliefs that keep the worry running.
Panic Attacks
Panic attacks are frightening, and avoiding the places they happened, the freeway, the store, the school pick-up line, quickly narrows your world. Over video we map your triggers and practice grounding until you can rely on it.
ADHD
ADHD in a child, a teen, or an adult who was never diagnosed is one of the most common reasons northwest Valley families contact us. Hannah Goldberg, LMSW specializes in ADHD in adults and adolescents, and sessions focus on routines, follow-through and emotional regulation.
Grief & Loss
Grief does not follow a timeline, and Peoria has many residents carrying the loss of a spouse, a parent, or a long chapter of life. Online sessions let you grieve from home with a therapist who stays with you long after the casseroles stop arriving.
Life Transitions
A move to a new build in Vistancia, retirement, a return to work, an empty nest: life transitions are often what bring Peoria clients to us. Therapy helps you move through the change deliberately and notice what in it is loss and what is opportunity.
Relationship Issues
Relationship trouble is usually a pattern rather than a person. Whether you come alone or together, we look at how conflict actually unfolds in your home and rehearse a different response in session so it is ready when it counts.
Trauma & PTSD
Trauma, whether one event or a childhood of them, keeps the body braced long after the fact. Our EMDR-trained clinicians and trauma specialists, including Tiffani Robinson, LAC and Mallory Rigby, LPC, work at the pace you set, and EMDR adapts well to a secure video session.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
OCD is treated with evidence-based exposure and response prevention, and that work is often most effective at home, where the intrusive thoughts and rituals actually live, rather than in an office across the valley.
What to Expect From Your First Sessions
Initial Conversation
The first session is a conversation: what brought you here, what you have tried, what you want to be different. Ask anything you like about your therapist’s approach; if the fit is wrong, we will say so and refer you on.
Creating Your Treatment Plan
Your therapist then writes a plan you can see: the concerns you are working on, the approach (CBT, DBT, EMDR or a combination), how often you will meet, and how you will both know it is working.
Connecting Through Video Calls
Sessions are 50 minutes on a secure video link from anywhere private with a reliable connection. Phone sessions are available when video is not practical, for instance when you are on the road.
Ongoing Guidance and Support
Expect focused sessions with something small to practice in between. Each week we review what worked, adjust what did not, and keep the work anchored to the goals you set.
Planning Your Next Appointment
Before the call ends, you and your therapist schedule the next one. Steady weekly sessions are what make therapy work, so we hold your time and ask for 24 hours notice if you need to change it.
Who Online Therapy Suits in Peoria
Online therapy fits Peoria residents who are simply far from in-person options: families in Vistancia and north Peoria, commuters who already spend enough time on the Loop 101 and 303, retirees who would rather not drive across the valley, parents who cannot leave the house in the evening, and teens who talk more freely from their own room.
It is not right for everyone. If you or a family member is in crisis or needs more than weekly outpatient therapy, we will tell you in the first conversation and help you reach the right level of care.

Cost of Virtual Therapy in Peoria, AZ
Private-pay therapy across the Phoenix metro typically costs about $80 to $250 per session, depending on the clinician’s credentials and session length; our online and in-person rates are identical. Some of our therapists are in network with Aetna, UnitedHealthcare/Optum, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna or UMR, depending on the clinician. The Wiser Counseling Team Serving Peoria
Wiser Counseling is a group practice of sixteen Arizona-licensed therapists founded and directed by Anna Liu, LCSW, with offices in Tempe and Scottsdale and online clients throughout the state. We match Peoria clients to a clinician who works with their age group and concern, from a child with anxiety to a couple in conflict to an adult processing trauma, and every therapist's specialties are listed on our team page. If the first match is not right, we change it.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
I live in north Peoria. Does distance matter at all?
No. Our therapists are licensed for the whole state of Arizona, and the session is the same whether you are in Vistancia, Old Town Peoria, or anywhere else with a private room and a connection. If you ever want an in-person session, Tempe and Scottsdale are each about 37 minutes away without traffic, and you keep the same therapist.
Can my child or teen be seen online?
Yes. Most of our clinicians see adolescents 12 and older online, and Ally Marcus, LCSW sees children from age 6. A parent or guardian provides consent and joins the first conversation; after that, sessions are between your child and their therapist, with parent check-ins built into the plan.
Are your therapists licensed in Arizona?
Yes. Every clinician at Wiser Counseling holds an Arizona license or associate license (LPC, LCSW, LMSW or LAC) and practices under clinical supervision where required. We are therapists, not psychologists, and do not provide psychological testing.
Do you offer medication management?
No. Wiser Counseling provides therapy only. If medication is part of your care, we coordinate with your prescriber, or help you find one, and share progress notes with your written consent.
Book online or call (602) 456-4150 and tell us briefly what is going on and when you are free. We will match you with a therapist who fits, confirm cost or coverage up front, and usually have your first session scheduled within the week, with no drive across the valley.
