Where are you located?
We offer in-person therapy and online therapy. If we meet at our offices, here are the addresses:
9160 E. Bahia Dr. Suite 107, Scottsdale, AZ 85260
1405 N. Dobson Rd. Suite 1 Chandler, AZ 85224
If we meet online, you can be… well, anywhere! -
What are your hours?
Our regular working hours are 8 am – 7 pm, Monday through Saturday. Sunday appointments available upon requests
Most of our clients are busy professionals, so we try my best to accommodate your schedule. That means we do evenings and weekends upon request. -
How long are your sessions?
Our sessions are typically 50 minutes long, but they can be extended on occasion.
-
How does online counseling work?
Online counseling is awesome! We use Zoom, and you can either access the video by weblink or open the app on your device (phone, tablet, or laptop). We can talk anywhere you have a stable Internet connection – and privacy, of course.
-
With what age ranges do you work?
Our therapists work with teens 12-year-old and over and adult clients.
-
What exactly is a free initial phone consultation?
Before we schedule a session, I provide this call for you to ask any questions and make sure we are a good fit.
You can tell me about yourself and what you’re looking for in a therapist. I will tell you about my clinical impression and my approach to best help you. I often suggest good reads based on your issues, and I always provide resources and referrals if we are not a good fit. -
What is your cancellation policy?
If you can’t make it to an appointment and don’t cancel with me ahead of time (at least 24 hours’ notice), you will be charged the full price of the session.
That being said, emergencies happen. If there is a surprise, health, or family issue, I understand and will try to reschedule within the week. -
Do you take insurance?
A few therapists in our practice accept Aetna, Optum, UnitedHealth, Oxford and Oscar. You will receive an estimate of how much you can expect to pay before we start therapy.
The availability of insurance covered individual therapy sessions is limited. Couple therapy is NOT covered by insurance typically. -
Do you give homework?
Yes. Homework is an integral part of my approach.
It serves numerous purposes, including helping you integrate new skills into your life, expanding therapy beyond the time we spend together in session, and giving you additional insight into yourself.
When assigning homework, I do my best to maximize the assignment’s usefulness while keeping in mind the amount of time you have in your busy schedule to complete it. -
What should I expect at the first session?
In your first session, the focus is on getting to know you. I will explore your history (including lifestyle, relationships, major life events, and family background) to understand what has led you to where you are today.
We’ll also talk about what has brought you in for therapy, your symptoms, and your primary goals for our journey together. -
How often do I need to come to therapy and get results?
Honest truth: It’s different for everyone.
The goal is not to adopt you as a therapy client forever; it’s to help you accomplish your goals and transform your life.
Therapy is a process that requires time, effort, and, most importantly, your commitment to making lasting change in your life. You will get the best and quickest results by attending therapy sessions weekly. This is especially important in the beginning as we get to know one another and build trust.
When you commit to taking consistent action toward your goals, you will see results. -
What are your therapy sessions like?
Our sessions will look and feel like a conversation with a purpose. I ask questions. You think and respond. We will explore different patterns and themes that come up while you’re talking.
I will provide education on topics as the need arises and add exercises and activities you can work on outside our weekly sessions. The goal is to take what you learn in those 50 minutes and apply it to your daily life.
We will discuss difficult topics, so you might experience sadness, anger, or other emotions during our sessions. This is normal and an indicator that we are on the right track. Letting yourself feel sad or angry can be scary, but I will be there. I will help you embrace the feeling, figure out why you’re feeling that way, and reduce the intensity of the emotions. The feeling is temporary, and relief is on the other side if you stick with it.
My clients have said they leave sessions feeling relieved, lighter, hopeful, optimistic, energized, motivated, and empowered. Those 50 minutes are powerful and life-changing!
